We've got the LT77 into the 90, and we've just got the Disco 200TDi in too. Cooling fan's fouling on the power steering box though and can't see a fix (short of going Kenlowe). Is this usual? LR's a 1987 90. Grateful for any rapid advice whilst we scratch our heads, please?

200 in my 1990 90 missed the steering box.

Could try snipping an equal amount of each blade so as it misses.

You may have welded the engine mounts too low on the chassis

Mine is 90 with a disco 200 with lt77 as it came out of the disco and we welded the mounts futher forward on the chassis and all the pipes from the disco fitted no problem as the engine sits well forward.

Had to cut a little out of the seat box to accomodate the gearlever but not a problem and a nice position for gearchanges.

It's a Defender LT77 so the TDi is on it's original mounts (well, new ones but you know what I mean) and sitting back where it should. Thought about snipping it but you'd have to get it dead right else it'd spin off centre and eventually bugger itself. To be honest a Kenlowe is probably the best solution as it'll do a better job of cooling on the rare occasions it's needed but not over-cool otherwise and I should see a few more mpg as a result.

Frontera fan fits perfect wire it to switch in dash ive never needed mine in 3 years towing and stuck in traffic? Peace of mind its there tho and flick it on occasionally for peace of mind when its working hard.

Scratchy's got a 200TDi Disco engine sitting well back. No fan and no problem. Even on a pay and play site that hot Sunday a couple of weeks ago, pootling around in low ratio. Although I did open the bonnet whenever I stopped for a fag so 'ee could cool down a bit but never went over half way up the temp gauge.
