Hi,

I changed oil in my gearbox (Freelander -04 1.8 manual). I had problem to find MTF94 so bought Liqui Moly 75W80 instead.
Changing gears works fine but I now get weird errors, HDC (C1151), I expect electrical malfunction in reverse/1st gear or brake switch. Maybe just bad coincidence it all started after I changed the oil.

But just so I don't ruin anything, is Liqui Moly 4427 a good replacement for MTF94?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Thanks, and it's much cheaper than what I bought.
I used to buy from UK but due to Brexit it is expensive and takes time with shipping.

Any advice on the oil, can I keep it for now?

/Chris

As alternatives to MTF 94, RAVE gives Burmah Oil MTF 1067 or OPEL B 0400063 for refill or topping-up. No idea if they are any more available than MTF 94.

As a final thought - and if all else is unavailable - LR used to give ATF Dexron IID or III as alternatives to MTF 94 on the R380 gearbox. They have since retracted that advice, and to my knowledge have never suggested it for the PG1 or Getrag boxes on the Freelander, so I have no idea if it is suitable and use at your own risk. But if you are really stuck, then it is probably a better bet than what you are using at the moment.
