i have fitted a new master cylinder and i still cannot get it to bleed! ive also had the slave off and it looks fine. Dan

you can try to reverse the bleed by putting a large syringe with a flexible pipe full of fluid on the bleed nipple and injecting the fluid into the slave.

We do this on bike brakes, it forces the air up the pipe and out, not down the pipe and out..

i better be prepared for this too,
where do you let the air out, at the master cylinder union?

Trucks are like that aswel, zoom off to the breakers and get a washer pump and a length of hose, connect it to the slave, take the cap off the master and let it **** onto the ground, when done wash it all away with water.

Dont get too confident about the bush, phone the dealer as I told you, or fook of to the breakers and see if you can find another auto and compare it.

ive ordered a bush and i will speak with dealer when i go to get bush. maybe he will have a crank their i can look at unlikely though! Dan

No you're right I dont think I have ever fitted a replacement crank, and as for a recon unit doubt it aswel coz they order them to demand, However!!!, we used to keep all the old units laying around for ages before they went back to the factory for refurb, and usually outside in a dark useless corner somewhere. So take something to measure with.

The mechanics wont know fokal since they are working on new motors all day and a conversion like yours is something they are unlikely to do. A good partsman would be able to find out tho, trouble is most dont give a fook anymore. But if you tell them you need a recon unit for a build, it might be auto or manual and do they both come with bushes before I buy this bush.

If they dont help get them to give you a contact for the dept that overhauls the units.

Thats a good idea i think ive got a way of finding out when i get the bush because when i fitted the clutch i used a wooden handle into the end of the crank and though the clutch plate to align it so hopfully ill will have more of an idea once ive got my hands on the bush and had a look at it but i will definatly speak with the dealer and try and find out if they where fitted to every crank if not hopefully try and talk with a breaker that has an auto engine and see if its got the bush. Dan

All is well ive been to the stealer today and got the bush and put it on my clutch alingnment tool and it fits perfect so i now know their is a bush in their 100 percent what a releive. And thankyou very uch for all you help with my problem now i just need to bleed the clutch! Dan

I told you .... it is all in the power of prayer, and what costs Landrover less between a 10p bush in every crankshaft or trying to keep track of which cranks are for manuals and need a bush.

I still bet they bang a bush into every crankshaft!
