Ur a doosel head Ratty ent yu?
How does an immobiliser work on a doosel? There ain't no electrics to immobilise sept on the fuel side of things............
My neighbour has a slitty Nissan thing which he is trying to start after sitting stood for 3 years - he's got no interior lights, dashboard lights, indicators etc etc etc. And yes we have put a new battery on it. Engine will turn but everything else is dead!! I reckon it must be the immob cus that is dead too...........

Sounds like either a wire has been left off the battery, Blown main fuse, or the fusebox feed is corroded. The immobiliser wouldn't effect the ancilleries. Test for a live at the fuse box. The immobiliser may need reprogramming too.

It may sound silly but the battery is connected the right way round? Some batteries have the + and - the opposite way around.:doh:
 
No wires left off the battery and yes they did have a new battery in there connected the wrong way around. Think they are leaving it till tomorrow cus they need to get batteries for the immob. Will get me meter on it and check for voltage thru the fusebox etc.............

Aaaaah. They fitted the battery the wrong way around. Thats a whole new ball game.

What year is it?

If it's fairly new there should be a circuit breaker (similar to a household one) in the fuse box. Look for a biggish plastic box with a button on the side. Press the button and the dash lights should re-appear.
 
It's an R reg Nissan Terrano - just had to go outside to check cus I knew it was a piece of shoite just wasn't sure of the specifics.
SO you reckon there is a breaker in there somewhere?
Why do people only ask you for help after they totally FUBAR'd it?

There may well be.

If not check the fuses in the engine bay.

Nissan terrano's and cabstars are renowned for immobiliser issues. They are generally main dealer only to sort out anorl. Even the auto electricians around my way won't touch em when they have immobiliser faults.

It wont.

Connecting up the battery the wrong way round will.

If a vehicle is left with a flat battery for too long it MAY need the imob re-coding. At this exact moment the problem you have is NOT due to the immobiliser.

It is due to spikeing the electrical system. It's like having a lightning bolt hit your house and then asking why the lights tripped out.;)
 
OK so..............
Did have a quick look but didn't have me glasses on so could have been a plate of Spag Bog for all I know.
Will take a look tomorrow when the eejit next door starts banging on my door...........
