Light problem

Have a problem If anyone can help
Defender 110 td5 lights problem my fog light
On dash all the time my indicators lit up all
The time if you release the brake they will flicker
Apply brake will not .no lights break light etc
Turn engine off if foot on brake or in reverse
Engine stays on even if key removed
Maybe earth or cossover somewhere

Do all of the warning lights etc illuminate on your dash or just the indicator ones?

Hi sorry fog light on all the time even
Without lights on.both indicators lights on dash very dim
But will flash when indicating it's a weird one
But when driving when brake applied indicators will not flash
But all lights light on dash as normal

Sound like an earth problem try putting new earth behind clocks mate

Someone has looked at it and says new loom
But if I plug trailer in there no lights at all on trailer
Wondering if there a problem from trailer plug
To loom
Any help would be great

First thought is that the fog switch is broken - try disconnecting

Secondly, has the problem only started since the trailor loom was added? if so remove it

Thirdly, are the hazards ok? the ignition switch might have internal problems

Trailer plug has been on since new and never
Had problem before
Might have to get second hand loom and run
On the outside of the chassis

Disconnect the fog switch - does the problem go away?

On my 110 theres a diode in the loom that runs through the right hand side rear wheel arch. Its moulded in to the loom with tape and a sod to find about the size of a large fuse, but that would give those symptoms I think. It could well have been damaged\destroyed if a dodgy trailer has been connected and shorted it out.

Not sure about TD5s - 200tdis utilise a diode for the heated rear window.

Try to isolate each part of the loom, ie disconnect a switch to see if that makes any difference.

I wonder if one of your earths has gone live?
