Can you get them?
I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to find them, but can't :mad:
This parts diagram doesn't show them but, they are a rubber insert in part 21. This diagram doesn't look like the actual connector block on my 96 plate Defender..

I can find new connector blocks on leads. Surely you don't need to replace the whole block and rewire in to the harness?
If you can get them does anyone know the name and or part number.

Cheers, James. I was beginning to think I'd lost the ability to google ;)

Seems a bit daft to replace the whole connector and lead just for a perished rubber seal. I might try an O ring in there. Have you ever improvised something successfully?

often, small rubber bands arent bad for such ,but an o ring is a good idea
 
The distance around the lens side of the connector is 49mm (approx) got an old one in the garage ;)
49mm ÷ π = 15.6mm diameter.
I've bought 10, 15.5mm ID, 1.5mm CS, nitrile O rings off ebay for £2.14. I'll let you know how they fit. Worth a bash for that money.

its tempting not to bother but those little pins soon rot away if they get wet

That's exactly what's happened. :D
I thought the lens must have been leaking and the water had leaked through from the lens to the two pins. I bought a new Bearmach lens/bulb holder. But, when I came to put it in, I noticed the seal in the connector block was perished and split.
 
sometimes if the connector and holder are very corroded, if the connector is ok when the pin is removed i fit a rubber band as a seal just because i have a few that fit ok, as otherwise its more expense and another connection to fail as you crimp the new lead to the loom
 
Al - on the basis that you're talking about the Econoseal type products, are you referring to the pin plugs? You can get those on ebay if so:

Ebay's your friend either way, the connectors themselves aren't particularly expensive - £3 ish. Just type 'econoseal' into ebay and tons come up.
 
When I got some new LED lights from Bolt on Bits they gave me new connectors of the correct size to go with them. They were in 'Jegs' branded packets, so they're clearly a standard generic item. Can't remember what the model number was though, sorry.
 
Thanks for all of the replies gents - awesome. This LINK looks like it could replace the original fittings. Those econoseal cavity plugs o_O sound suspicious, but I presume fit inside a connector. The original LR connectors work fine, at least mine have for 21 years. The rubber seal in one of them has now perished and split. I'm hoping the O ring works as really I don't think the units should need to be replaced for the sake of a simple rubber seal. If the O ring doesn't work I'll get some of the econoseal connectors.

Well, the O rings didn't work cos I got the wrong size :oops:
Used some closed cell foam - off cut from the bulkhead to window frame seal IIRC. And cut out a seal

Fitted nice and snug. Just need some rain to test it, but I reckon it should be fine. :) Wish I'd thought of that before :rolleyes:
