Hi, i swapped my lift pump (not due to a fault) with a new Britpart unit for a 200 tdi Disc engine fitted to my 90 ex Mod, it had a spacer block which mine didn’t and the arms are the same lenght? But i fitted it as it had the seals bonded to it- started and ran run the town at decent high speed no problems, wouldn’t start the next day easily and dies to nothing in second gear- found a minor air leak main pipe to lift pump and rectified- primed fillter housing and started first time and ticks over/ revs, took for test drive and dies in second gear still- should i remove the spacer block, also leak off pipes are wet but were changed quite recently?

any pics, if its bolted to an ali housing it needs no spacer and long cam lever, of its bolted to a flat steel plate long lever needs spacer short lever not

Think i will buy a seal tomorrow and try it without the block but it seems strange that it ran ok with the block for 1 day, may be unrelated ☹️ After that i may swap the pump back over

I think it bolts directly to the engine block
no it doesnt on a 200tdi its bolts to a plate
this is the ali plate

when you fit a lift pump it must need to be pushed up against the lever for the last 10mm or so an you need to ensure its sat over cam not under it

once you have the system full and primed the injection pump with cope without lift pump working but if fuel leaks back ie poor leak off pipe or poor valve in lift pump it wont pull its own fuel and will need priming again, originally they used a short lever and flat or thin plate then long lever with a plate with a spacer cast on to it

Do the leak off pipes need clips? Non fitted so tonight as they were weaping i tried small cable ties but this hasn’t helped
