LED light bar!!

fitted a 52" led light bet to my td5 defender. Struggling with wiring. It's came with a fused loom, with a relay and switch. Just can't work out how to get it from the battery to the light and get the switch on the dash?! Any help appreciated!!

relay is just a switch. It protects the dash switch from large tricity coz it will burn out.


Take a live wire from any live behind the dash that becomes live when the ignition is on. That will save you running the battery down when you take the keys out.

Run that to one side of your new switch then from the other side of the switch rout it to the relay. The relay takes a tiny amount of juice so remember any live.

Attach this wire to number 86 on the relay.

Run a wire from number 87 on the relay to the live on your lightbar.

Take a live from your battery to number 30 on your relay via the new fuse.

Earth the relay out from number 85 to bodywork/chassis.

Earth the lightbar to bodywork/chassis/next doors cat etc etc.

The fuse goes between battery and lightbar on your live feed before the relay.

Remember what live you spliced into for your switch as that will already have a fuse on it and its handy to know if that fuse blows.
