Disco 2 Leaning on drivers side

Coming back from Cornwall this morning I noticed that the steering felt a bit vague and bumps in the road were very hard. Pulled into a layby and found the drivers side wheel arch was nearly touching the wheel. Decided to pull off the A303 into a pub car park as the SLS light was now also flashing. Won't at this stage tell you how long it took the RAC to recover me as investigation is pending but does this sound like a failed air suspension unit? The other side had dropped a little but nothing like the driver's side.

Ha ha, maybe the last owner but I'm only 11 stone;)
Checked this morning still down on driver's side but no SLS light.
I think I may have caused that as I tried to raise the suspension whilst sitting in the layby and nothing happened except the light started to flash and stayed flashing.
That side has always sat lower than the other so I'm still thinking the bag has gone.

Hi,

If you know someone with a nanocom it may be worth checking it out. Read the sensors , raise / lower the sides individually, etc.

have you had a look underneath to see if the height sensor is still attached correctly?

The driver's side went down on mine first, all the way down on the off-side and partially on the nearside.
Changed the airbags without looking any further and I've had no trouble since, that was two years ago.
I'd be tempted to change both air bags first as last.
 
Thanks Brian, that is exactly what has happened to mine.
Offside nearly on arch, nearside dropped about 1 inch.

If there was a leak it's possible that the compressor exceeded it's duty cycle then it will not start again untill the fault code is erased, it's possible that's why the ORM just kept flashing as there was no movement in the sensors, a tester is needed either way cos if it was always lower on that side it needs calibration too cos a leak would not keep it lower while driving only drop when ignition is off.
 
While I would always agree with sierrafery :D, who know probably knows more about the Disco than even LR themselves, I would say to anyone who has difficulties with the SLS to change both of the airbags first, almost as a diagnostic measure, they're not that expensive, they're fairly easy to change and splits in the rubber can be notoriously difficult to definitively identify.

+1 i sustain that, what i was trying to say was that beside a leaking bag there's a calibration issue too if it's leaning on one side while the engine is running ;)
 
I am now mystified, when RAC man started her up yesterday and put on the trailer the offside corner was on the arch as it was when he drove it off. Gone out this morning to move off drive, started up and compressor fired up and pumped up both sides to normal ride height where they remain 5 hours later.

Did you drive through a puddle or summat yesterday ?

To all intents and purposes, yes.
Make sure that you have two new clips for each bag (should be packed with them) and the original screw fitting will have to be cut off. Use a sharp blade, cut square, don't crush the pipe with pliers. Make sure that the pipe ends are clean and free of scratches. Push the pipes home as far as they'll go.

Something has now occurred to me - as the suspension has cured itself how do you release the pressure to change the bags?
