I think my sunroof is leaking and i know its a comon fault. But the rear roof is perfect.

I then thought it could be where the roof bars fit to the roof as there is like a sponge flange between the roof and the bars.

If it is the roof how dificult is it to fit new seals and is it roof lining out

Thanks

Before you rip the roof out, might be worth a quick check I did-I had water pouring in from where roof lining meets front windscreen, lots of it.
I dried off and wiped with alcohol, the seam between paintwork and rubber at the top of the windscreen (outside) and then ran a continuous band of half inch black pvc electrical tape along the whole length of this seam (half on the rubber and half on the paint work)-It then rained for 2 days solid and I had no leaks. So my leak was deffo the screen seal and not the sunroof-mightb be worth a try only takes 10 mins when it is dry.

I had this problem and the dealer insisted that, after looking under the headlining, I needed a new sunroof tray because the drains were in poor condition. ( I now doubt they even looked under the headlining as they didn't have time before making this diagnosis.) They did this for me and then ..... it still leaked. It turned out that all it needed was the outer frame ( attaching it to the roof ) needed resealing which they then did . 'They' said that the original fixing is only done with a sticky tape!!!!!

A few months ago, the rear one started to leak so I got a tube of black Sikaflex(?) and ran a half inch bead over the edge of the frame and on to the roof - miracle cure, so far. That was a difference in cost of several hundred pounds! And it only took a short time to do.

I am well pleased and am keeping all fingers crossed that the problem has been solved. At my age, getting up and down to the roof was the biggest challenge!!!!!
