have had this 300tdi for 3yrs the sunroof has leaked all the time, headlining sagging and a bowl on the back seat to catch the water (you get the picture). So we were due a bit of fine weather I decided to have a go at fixing it properly,I read up on how to put in a new seal, bought the seal and a spray can of silicone then set about the job. Got the headlining out and was astounded that the glue or foam beneath the cloth was just orange dust, the tits for the drain tubes were still intact, so put the new seal in and started to re build, just by chance I decided to blow down the drain tubes to make sure they were clear, the nearside was, but something was blocking the offside tube, so got some strong flexible cable and threaded it down the tube which exits down the offside rear door pillar, rammed as hard as I could but blocked solid, lay on my back and tried from underneath, solid, so measured the wire up the door pillar and opened the back door where I found a hole in the back pillar where I could get my hand in.LOW AND BEHOLD I FOUND THE CULPRIT BLOCKAGE, A STRENGTHENING BAR FITTED AT THE BUILDING OF THE CAR HAD BEEN BOLTED TO THE BODY WORK, TRAPPING THE DRAIN TUBE BETWEEN THE BAR AND THE BODY. I REMOVED THE BOLT AND FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ITS LIFE THE DRAIN TUBE WAS ALOUD TO DO ITS JOB. LEAK FIXED!!! I hope this story helps someone, it makes me wonder how many more leaking sunroofs out there are a result of this.
