Hi,

Need a little help please... being that currently I have a little more time on my hands now I need to tackle my leaking LT77s, LT230T boxes and the rear engine crank oil seal. And why for good measure doing this replace the clutch.

Prior to starting this I reviewed the LR workshop manual and seen there are a number of specialised tools required, but for only looking to replace the gaskets and oil seal do I really need these specialised tools. Looking on the internet these tool are very, very hard to come by and very, very expensive.

Regards,
Antony.

I suppose it depends where they're leaking from, but generally the oil seals are not to hard to replace. Some sort of screwdriver or cold chisel to get the old one out and then tap the new one in gently.

Use genuine rear main seal, install dry.
Universal clutch alignment tool actually quite good, tenner off ebay.

The last 200 crank seal [ genuine ] I did proved reluctant to go in. Half an hour in the freezer sorted it. Also a new clutch housing/block gasket may be needed as they can also to leak. They come with a sealer bead on the surface.
