Water could also have been seeping past the frame fixing screws at sometime, that’s why they rusty.
Assuming the glass closes squarely and lays flat on the seal on all sides, plus the seal is retained in the groves all the way around frame, if so then the the seal is faulty, so replace it with a genuine item as I understand the patten items don’t fit exactly, as u would expect.
If you could see water dripping from around the base of the frame on the inside of the roof, that’s seal that’s iffy, that’s the one that replaced using sealant such as Silkaflex.

Now u have gone to all this trouble so far, you may wish to consider to seal the frame.

U could just slide the glass back but it would be difficult to fit the seal at the rear, it’s simpler to remove the four glass retaining screws and lift the glass away, fit the seal and refit the glass making sure it’s with the same even gap at front and rear and sides between the glass and frame edges before tightening fully the screws, it’s a simple job.

They can, there’s a company that produces a patten part in metal, Google u will find, or s/h via eBay but normally the repair is just a dab of Silkaflex over the cracks or sticking the part back, the drains are only install to take water thats laying on the glass and the glass it then tilted, who ever does that, and the water then runs forward and is diverted to the sides and into the drain entrance, that’s why both drains are at the front of the sunroof only.

I’ve never used my sunroofs so the seal is still like new and so not leaking.

WE removed the headlining and removed the sunroof trays and resealed where they sit on the roof and also resealed around the sunroof drains. I bought two new sunroof seals but have put vaseline on the old rubber seals and they haven't leaked since. I still have the new sunroof rubber seals in case. Part of the problem is our drive which slopes down at quite an angle so just having drains at the front isn't a good design as the water doesn't go uphill to them.
