Hi
On opening the rear passenger door yesterday, all 4 corners went into access mode. I started the car and raised to off-road, normal, access and back to normal. Only heard a weird noise at the rear near side for a short period. All continued normal following a few drives and still normal this morning. The fault still showing on the dash each time I start.
Put in off-road height this morning and removed fuse….now waiting (how long should I wait?) is there anything else I could be doing/checking?
Have also ordered a new set of o rings for the valve block.
Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks

Hi @Big CWW

personally would start off by getting the codes read due to the complexity of these vehicles

in normal ride height measure from the centre of the wheels to the bottom of the wheel arch liners in MM on all 4 x corners to see what they are , then as you’ve pulled the F26 fuse from the engine bay leave overnight and then re measure them to see if they’ve changed

plus worth checking the battery as when they get low can cause untold issues as these are very power hungry

assume urs is stop start so will have 2 x batteries , best to check bits with a multimeter with the engine off should see a minimum of 12.6Vdc

hope that helps

Much appreciated, thanks.
I’ve got a new code reader on order, as my current one is too old and not supportive of the LD.
Had the fuse out all day and measured every couple of hours, no movement. (Fuse been out about 8-hours)
Didn’t know about the batteries, will defo check them, thanks again

your so welcome and that is was of some use , have a D3 myself and alas with both models batteries can really play a big part with errors so always best to start there and can certainly help u go through it step by step

learnt with these of just taking ur time and testing as we go

may I ask what scanner u went for in the end plse , personally have a gap iid , alas not cheap but are extremely good along with great aftersales , think the cheapest I’ve seen them are around £440.00, know it can be difficult for some scanner to work on post 2016 vehicles

along with having a half decent multimeter is a godsend for carrying out basic tests

awesome the suspension hasn’t dropped , is it the same with the fuse back in plse , sometimes an occasional fault occurs which can be very difficult to diagnoses if it doesn’t often appear , another reason for the scanner as it may have registered a fault code which can sometime help with resolving the issue

plse let us know what fault codes u get along with the Vdc battery readings plse , thks

I’m glad you mentioned this, as I never even thot the batteries would be an issue.
Did a download of the workshop manual last night, so will go through this today.
I ordered the Autel tp200, bottom end of the market, I know, but can’t justify the gap tool (at this point….)
I’ve got a decent multimeter, so will do the checking as I go, thanks.
The suspension dropped to access height as soon as the fuse was reintroduced.
Defo will update with codes and readings, as soon as I get them done.
Many thanks again for your assistance

no probs and happy to help

did u get the white Autel plse as there’s also a red one with less features , also believe it or not there’s a couple of white versions, just to make it more complicated , lol, 1 x has 10 x service functions whilst the other has 19 x functions, do u happen to remember the link plse

for the price they are well worth it , fingers crossed it will work with urs being right on the edge of the software change

that’s normal for the suspension to drop when the fuse is put back in , plse raise it to normal height and leave if u can for the day to see how it goes

plus not wishing to try and teach u how to suck eggs but as urs will be keyless entry best to get a feraday pouch or disable it

indeed plse let us know what u find when the scanner turns up and have checked the batteries

HI, yes, I did get the white one, states it has 25+ additional features/Functions, so hopefully it'll do the trick!
Again thanks for the Feraday pouch info....never event thot of that!!
Not managed to et near her today, due to work and awaiting the scanner....hopefully later this evening or tomorrow (On a positive note, I have noted the ride height appears to not have moved since setting last night)
Thanks again for your assist

great pleasure mate and always nice to pass it on so to speak always a collective help from us forum members

indeed ref the faraday pouch, can also get a box to put ur keys in , other things are moving ur obd2 port where a dummy port attaches with a short loom to ur original and fools thieves when they try and plug in there device which allows them t9 program new keys

other systems are around like the ghost watch , many videos on utibe which hopefully will be useful to u

that’s great u have the correct Autel and look forward to see what it comes back with

HI gstuart.....finally got back to it today! Both batteries checked out fine 12.39 & 12.94, and both above 10 when starting. Plugged in the Autel and got it registered, etc did a scan, and no faults found!! then i looked up and the fault has disappeared from the dash!! lol
Now have a new message - service due! (Service Kit & Faraday Pouch are in the post)

Thanks again for your assist!

hi mate

many thks for the data , ur so very welcome and pleasure mate

alas batteries with the engine off should measure a min of 12.6 Vdc , engine running should see around 13 to 14 , Vdc however u have a smart alternator on urs so maybe that’s ok, plse leave that with me and I’ll check for u

can u remember which battery had which voltages plse , thks

that’s great there’s no fault codes , u should be able to clear the service notice via the Autel

plus with the Autel would u be so kind to have a look through the live data plse , that will at least tell us that it’s working and reading the modules , plus wouldn’t hurt to look at ur steering wheel angle sensor, with ur steering wheel dead straight see what the degrees are , should read zero and ur see them change as u move the steering wheel , as if that’s out it can cause issues

Plus as a final check in MM and in normal ride height can u measure from the centre of the wheels to the bottom of ur wheel arches what measurement u get plse

have u had any more errors plse, plus is always worth getting a charger , personally have a CTEK Multi MXS 7.0 Battery Charger and use my 12s towing connector to charge my batteries , think though u would have to connect them to each battery in turn , seeing the cold is very hard on batteries is always worth ensuring there kept fully charged

another thing to check is what make spec , year ( if possible ,) the batteries are , if there AGM or not as that’s another thing that can cause occasional errors , can then double for u to ensure everything is correct

hope that’s helps

Epic stuff buddy every day is a school day….I automatically thought above 12 was good! The 12.39 was the large main battery, the other (eco) looks brand new.
Looking forward to doing my first service and a look at a couple of advisories that need dealt with, b4 Aug.
I’ll hopefully get the live data, battery detail and measure’s tomorrow
From memory I think I had one other error, normal height only available, a few months back, but cleared after I shut down and restarted. Nothing else since.

brilliant feedback and knowledge thanks again

honestly mate it’s a great pleasure to pass on what other kind people have told me , many of us always here to help if u get stuck

Thks for the data , did find out these are very power hungry , for my D3 main battery standard size is a 017 , went for a 019 and just fits , if I don’t use mine it will last just under a month before it drops below 12.6 Vdc , mine being a wet lead battery , assume urs will be AGM due to the smart alternator being controlled by the BCM

surprisingly if the battery gets low u can start seeing fault codes will pop up here and there but then can just disappear

that’s great and will of course help if there’s anyth8nt out if the ordinary when I get live data , measurement etc

don’t forget plse feel free to ask if u get stuck in anything , plus 1 as always nice getting ur own starting point with servicing

Well the saga continues…..in the last two days I’ve had “normal height only” and “suspension fault”, both appearing on startup, both disappearing on the next startup ‍♂️♂️. No codes showing on the new Autel……
