Yes you have to remove the speedo needles...and that is the tricky part!! Thre rest is quite simple.

I can't remember exactly what is was called, but is was something like the 'Silver track Clear one' or something like that....the cheaper Chinky ones are no good.

I repaired one using kit from these people. http://www.akspeedo.com/range-rover-lcd-pixel-repair-shop.php

Make sure you also buy the Speedo Needle Removal tools. You can do it without but it's really fiddly, and required drilling the plastic. With the needle tools, you can get the needles off without breaking the motors, and the LCD fix is then quite easy.

Thanks for that, looks like they are the ones to go with, will definitely get the removal tools

Apologies for dragging this one kicking and screaming back to life but when you replaced the needles did you recalibrate or do you have to try to get them back in the same orientation that they were removed in? I am about to undertake this fix and was curious about the resetting of all the needles. Its on an 02 plate.

no calibration. Put them back as close as possible. Speed & revs seemed ok, and car was sold a week or two later :)

TBH if I had to do it again, would use one of the repair companies, but I've avoided L322 issues by not buying one.
