I went to a festival this weekend (Y-Not in Derbyshire) and being from the area I know the lanes well and I remembered there's one that ends just next to the gate so I though worth a go 
As I came out coming from the other direction was a line of traffic as far as the eye can see and I drive straight in
So yeah laning has its uses
