Afternoon all,

My name's Dan from Sussex and I'm new to the scene. I don't currently own a Land Rover. Currently I drive a 2002 BMW 320d estate (Don't hit me) but tbh I'm bored of it and the BMW scene (or stigma that goes with it).

I've always liked the look of Landy's but have never actually considered buying one until recently.

Whatever one I get needs to be a good daily runner with gadgets etc (I'm a geek) as I will use it for my daily commute to work, therefore I will admit right now that I really like the look of the Freelander 2 (waits for abuse) and will look to research into and then purchase a diesel, auto HSE model around 2008/09 age.

Now previously back in 2009 when I decided to get my BMW I rushed into it and although I haven't had any problems (touch wood), I never got the car/spec that I wanted. Therefore I want to get this right so I have a couple of questions if I may?!

1. Will I get absolutely slated by other Landy owners for wanting a Freelander? ;)

2. I've read about issues with rear diff bearings and steering issues but are there other things I should look out for?

3. Is there anything else I should be thinking about/reading before looking to purchase?

Thanks for your time, at the moment I'm just starting to look into it, I'm still to arrange how best to finance it etc.

I look forward to your feedback.

Regards

Well a BMW to freelander is a substantial improvement to say the least, so you shouldn't get stick for wanting a freelander.

Welcome by the way :) hopefully some freelander nut will be along to advise you, all I know is avoid the 1.8 as there known for problems...

Thanks for the welcome guys, didn't realise I had replies because I didn't get an email :(

All the ones I've been looking at have been TD4's not SD4's, are TD4's ok?

Cheers
Dan

Sd4 is a Td4, but newer and more powerful.
The email thing can be a bit hit and miss, even when you subscribe to a thread. Check your settings and make sure you ticked the box for email all updates.
