This has crossed my mind a few times when doing some tilty lanes. I thought this was a good visual of the tipping point. I think I would be backing out way before I got to this angle though
Tipping point

I know they're only messing around but I thought it was a good example.

With a stationary vehicle it's easier to judge tipping point but bouncing around when moving oft road at angles throws the weight about more, which would tip it at lower angels.

Buy an inclinometer. Cost next to nothing on ebay. My Shogun has one and apart from the novelty its actually pretty useful.

As said, static rollover is quite a bit different to driving rollover angle, just 'cos it'll do it when stood doesn't mean it'll do it when rolling along a washout. I know an inclinometer tells you the angle of dangle, but at what point do you say too much?

I trust seat of the pants feel rather than some arbitrary number ... which is also unreliable too .. ;)

Might be ok upto 30 degrees but could be fairly sure that most people will say enough is enough well before that sort of inclination unless its a caged off-roader

Not sure what angle it would have been as it was facing down at the same time but this little hole that I was playing about in was plenty for my liking on a Landy I use for the road :)

The rear wheel was almost shoulder height when standing next to it lol

They'll go a lot further over that you'd think the body weighs little remember being ally. Sometimes you feel as if you're right over in the cab but when you look outside its not that bad. As for inclinometers, surely they're no good unless you have one specifically calibrated for a Defender as different 4x4's will have very different limits?

Rather you than me:eek:

very interesting but im now worried :scratching_chin: all i could think about while watching that video is thank god i dont live on that street!

Have i turned into a snob

Seriously it might be a garage but flipping a car in a street where people live? No respect for the people who live there. Imagine if you went to view a house and there 20 blokes flipping a car over in the corner and shouting like that! They might aswel have gone the whole hog and set it on fire while they was at it.

Anyway rant over carry on as you was :D

mine didnt go any further, the bush stopped it, BUT the engine stopped because of fuel starvation.

After this picture was taken I went towards and the. Rear wheel left the floor and was about 10" /12" off the ground when it tipped on to its side, u will be surprised just how far it will lean.
