I have just gone over my engine today and have discovered that the water pump is leaking slightly and also the steering box on my 1987 110 petrol. Do both of these parts have to be replaced ASAP or is it a common fault that can be left alone. Also is it easy to replace the parts myself being a DIY novice or should I book it into a garage (thinking Land Rover super market, Hunts Cross, Merseyside) unless somebody could recommend another garage, which isnt too pricey, and offer a fair service. Thanks

I have the same Landrover, replaced the steering box a year ago, had a garage do it becuse i dident want to bodge the steering! It is a common fault, and unfortunatly not a cheap one.

However, mine had play in it as well as leaks, u may be able to replace a seal somwhere...

you'll probably find that nipping the mounting bolts up a bit will help slow down any leaks if they are just gradual - if either is weeing out then you are best getting them sorted before driving too far it it
