Hi all!

I hope this is the correct section (i think its a series 2...), as I don't know much about these classic landys at all, and have recently just purchased this little beasty a few days ago.

needs a few things to get it tip top, but nothing major!

I'm basically after a bit of info on these things, anything you can think of.
things to keep an eye out for, tips and tricks on keeping it running sweet etc.

we are going to be using it for a few things, mainly for caring for horses, but also to lug about a few bikes as me and a few friends do a lot of downhill biking around the country!

soooo hello again to you all, i hope i enjoy my stay here on the forum! :D

Ahhh cheers for the correction!

N cheers!

Also, is there any way to space out the rear wheels slightly to make them not look so lost? Haha

Anyone know the PCD of the wheels??

Cheers!

and follow the maintenance schedule. Unlike a modern car these old vehicles need frequent lubrication in all sorts of places you wouldn't think of. You'll need a decent grease gun and possibly an oil pump for those less accessible filler holes. The rustproofing on landys is legendary for its lack of, well, just for it's lack. Worth cleaning down the chassis and waxoyling it.

To be honest, if you want to carry bikes you'd be better off with a 109" (Long wheelbase). There's not a lot of space inside these 88" (I have one the same year as yours). As a taste of things to come, I have spent a few hours in this very hot weather underneath wax-oiling the bits of the chassis that catch the worst of the road-spray in the winter. Pay particular attention to the rear cross-member, as it catches all the spray from the back wheels, and has lots of crevices for wet mud to lodge in. Also, it's a good idea to change the oil frequently (every 6 months for me), and grease all the many nipples while you are in the mood. I keep all the old long-sleeved shirts I can no longer wear as 'good' (frayed etc) to wear while I'm underneath, then chuck them in the bin. It's a dirty, frustrating hobby, but so rewarding! Good luck! :welcome2:

Bikes fit in just fine if you take the wheels off - which is much easier if the wheels are fitted with quick release spindles.
