Awwww. Poor Whittle.. come on guys, we shud be a bit more helpful to the young-un! Tell us more about the project.. Did you choose this/invent this yerself? Or did yer teacher think it up and make yer come on this forum to have the **** ripped out of you? Cos if he/she did, get em to log on and we'll ave words for yer. To be honist, i think us rufty tufty tracter gurls and boys would probly just use a torch. It does the job. Head torches are good cos you get the light where yu want it while keepin yer hands free. The gaylander and rangie boys probly wud'nt even know how to pop the bonnet in the furst place... so thass them out, they just have the RAC on speed dial on there mobile phones... :D So me dear... I don't think yu'd sell meny on here. Sorry..:( Anymore fer anymore??

and if yer breaks down and you dunt have a torch push it under the nearest street light (unless yer 2 foot deep in mud half way up an hill)

you could rig up a fluro strip light, like the ones you see on caravans. wouldnt be much use offroad though as it would get covered in mud and probably wet. therefore its likely to break.

cant you 6th formers design anything more useful than an under-bonnet light?

G

yer that'd be useful, as long as it used easy to obtain batteries, was small and easy to carry, was strong enough to withstand being dropped and was cheap enough to not worry about when you loose it

Thanks forvthe advice, i will use it

By jove I have it yet again......... Spray everythinh in the bonnet wiv flourescent paint......it'll glow in the dark and yur dunt drain yur battery......fookin genius....

Had a fixed under bonnet light in an Audi 80 I used to drive. Pop the bonnet switch yer main lights on and the under bonnet light came on too, superb bit of kit could see entire engine bay. I think if you're going to design one go for led's possibly spread around the inside of the bonnet thus creating a more even light pattern. Have them run independently of the headlights, less battery drain.

got the same thing in me kitchen cupboards, tis horrible when you go hunting fer muchies in the dark - feels like the chocolate biscuit police have got their searchlights on ya

the willys jeep was a goodun. Headlights that flip up and back to illuminate ur engine/bonnet.
Yea landrovers break often enough so hes got the right market. But i'll stick with me head torch if its all the same.

look what yer do is this... phone the doris and tell her broke down and yer trying reet hard to fix it and yer dint know what time yule be back. then fook orf to the pub and stay there till day light time

couldn't be aresd readin all the posts but just get a few of them stick on led lights that push on / off and bung em under the bonnet. 6 quid for 3 at costco. bright as the sun

at night.

i have some pull marine cord flares in the garage, i might line them up underneath me bonnet and tie orf one of the cords to me rad mount so it goes orf when i opens the bonnet, then when yer done just tie orf another one ready fer when you open yer bonnet next
