Just seen these messages still got it and started doing some work on it have a look at my photos 
going to sort the lights out also as for the engine it's not too bad breaths abit but been reading up and it sounds as though they all do. Looks loads better after the paint job!

Thinking with it being a snowplough it might have a 1.6 ratio transfer box in like mine, in which case it will struggle to do more than 50-55 without exploding.

Yeah, a 2.5 NA engine. You can collect it out of the skip of my local scrapyard.

It does 50 in 4th the kills it when you go for 5th gear unless going down hill or a perfectly flat road.

If the revs are high it sounds like a 1.6 t/box.

No if anything it's geared too high is there any way I can find out what it is? Cast markings ect? To be fair it will do 60 in 4th reving it hard.

if local to the North East I would recommend Cheviot 4x4, if not LR Direct on line are my number one online supplier. They inexpensive and spectacular fast.
Keep plugging away chap, you will find it takes shape without you even realising.
