Thats the one
Thanks got plenty to investigate for tomorrow, just needed somewhere to start thanks.Final Stage Resistor, Headlamp Wipers not parking correctly, duff alternator, Water ingress into the boot....to name just a few
Have a google about identifying a parasitic battery drain, you will need a multimeter but also search on here for the way to do it on the L322, and also the correct battery disconnect procedure.
Nope . That just causes it to make a sound like the TARDIS , and then disappearThe L322 has its own battery disconnect procedure? F*ck me. Does control-alt-delete work on it?
Thanks Tricky, yes just had a multimeter delivered today, shall be checking battery drain and hopefully find the cause, that doesn't mean that its going be any easier to fix, if it's something major like computer related then a kill switch will have to be fitted, but thanks for the heads up has it's doing my tree in lolHi Robthebob,
Once you have a decent battery voltage check that the car "goes to sleep" after switching off the ignition, usually takes about ten minutes. Sit in with a cup of tea and don't touch anything until all the little LED lights go out and the fuse box cooler fan stops. Only then can you be sure that it's not the cause of battery drain. Then go looking for all the earth strap connections before delving into the pricey stuff like control modules. It's my experience that these cars are extremely sensitive to damp air or condensation acting like a liquid conductor of electricity and hence shorting all kinds of stuff leading to battery drain. Ironically, Land Rover have managed to build a car that whilst absolutely intoxicating in so many ways, is a very efficient sponge...!! Good luck.
Tricky.
all as I know I have taken the negative off battery that helps for the moment but when I connect it back there some arcing going on must be at least 2amps, but tomorrow I will know more, will keep you informed Tricky.I bought all the bits to install a Kill Switch as well but everything came good before I put it in, so haven't dared to disconnect the battery again and thankfully, haven't needed to. Cheers.
Tricky.
yes beginning to look that way, is the resistor drivers side up under the foot pedals, will change that if no joy kill switch it is then. thanks SaintFinal Stage Resistor.....Maybe!?!
Saint, does the final stage resistor control anything else do you know.yes beginning to look that way, is the resistor drivers side up under the foot pedals, will change that if no joy kill switch it is then. thanks Saint
thanks Kds, any idea of the cost off a final stage resistor ?Only the heater fan I think.
yes just got my daughter go on internet, she got one £25 , so I will give it a shot, hope that sorts it,No idea but gooooooooogle puts it any where between £20 and £50.
Hi John after fitting FSRhow did you get on with that...... my batt drains after 3 days but when working fine my FBH does smoke alot .... i am thinking about pulling the fuse...... only because the car carnt last 3 days without a start/run.....and thr FBH smokes like a **** at least three times once its running .....
