Hi Guys, I've got a V8 04 L322 (LPG) and need some one give me some guidance, my missus went to the shops and on her return the jeep wounldn't start, called the AA and even though it turns over fine it just wont fire, on reading the codes it came up with P1171 and P1174 which all point to the MAF and Oxy sensors which due to runnig on LPG may be normal as the engine managment light is lit anyway due to low emisssions through the exhast being on LPG. I can't hear the fuel priming pump when turning the ignition on .. speaking with the AA guy he reakons they have a tendancy to stick and fail so ive checked the voltage and fuses and all seems ok as its drawing 12v at the fuses when cranking. Tried banging the tank but still no joy.. Can anyone tell me the best way to locate the priming pump in the tank so i can just check thats ok .. failing this it'll have to go to the garage and start draining my bank account !!! i justwant to limit this as much as possible so any help would be appreciated..

Yea thanks for that, I already have use of a good quality snap-on version so i can read the code, but its just destinguishing the actual fault as the code brings up various things that are not operating.. Any idea on where the access is for the fuel pump in the tank ?

I'm not up on the BMW v8 but it would seem it hasn't been happy for a long while. A well setup system will not throw up a MIL lamp fault wether it's running on gas or petrol. Try starting on gas, on mine you have to put the ignition in position 2 and then quickly press and hold the change over button until the gas led is lit. You may have to crank a little longer but it should at least catch. Next I would be checking petrol fuel pressure at the rail. Again not sure on the BMW lump, but i would be surprised if there wasn't a sample point in the form of a schraeder valve. Connect a borrowed gauge and watch it while cranking on petrol.
