L322 - What do you have in your boot/Trunk?

Hi all,

I'm not massively paranoid about impending disasters but with that said i feel it's always best to be prepared.

I've been putting together a kit list for the boot. So far, I have this:

2 x sleeping bags
3 x change of clothes
1 x Maglight + batteries
2 x Socket set and other tools
Pens,paper
Hiking boots
Umbrella
2 x big jumpers
waterproof jacket
Heavy Duty Jump leads
Towing rope
Waterproof matches
Map/compass

I'm thinking a jerry can of water and one for fuel.

Any other thoughts?
 
Let's be serious guys. We should always aim to be prepared. Can anyone recommend some kind of boot bag/case/compartment. I've literally chucked stuff in, pretty messy. Any ideas?
 
Tbh that is pretty overkill for an L322, are you doing vast trips through the middle of nowhere on a frequent basis? I doubt it seeing as youre in London.... Surely it would be cheaper just to get breakdown cover!

All thats in the back of me dads is a couple brollys, dog bowl, blanket and some shopping bags.

Few of your bits make sense, tow rope, jump leads, waterproof jacket and a maglite - I keep all that in my Defender plus some recovery gear. In 5 years i've never needed any of it 'on the road' as it where.

Carrying fuel for no reason is just pointless, adds weight and will probably leak or spill in the back, creating an orrible mess and smell. As for water a couple sealed 2L supermarket bottles would be better than a jerry can.
 
Gettin' serious, just for a moment, I'd ditch most of that stuff you carry about and as @bankz5152 has recomended, carry an AA, RAC or Green Flag card instead.
In the case of a breakdown or flat tyre one thing you really ought to think about is being seen. So I would advise a cheap Hi-Viz over-jacket/waistcoat/tabbard type thing and maybe a collapsable warning triangle. Consider a set of bulbs for your vehicle too.
All I have in mine is a big bag with the general bits that might be needed, tow strop and shackles, a toolrool of misc spanners, torch, HD Jump leads, an old jacket and a packing blanket. A small tin of Swarfega or similar and an old bit of towel or maybe a couple of pairs of nitrile gloves, just in case; there's nothing worse than turning up somewhere in your best suit and dirty black grease all over your mits.
Because I'm gettin' a bit long in the tooth, I don't intend gettin' the spare wheel down off the back door, or more to the point puttin' the flat one back up on the door on my own so I also carry a couple of cans of Tyre Weld, some tyre repair string and a tyre inflator.

I always carry a fire extinguisher - I don't see that on your list. Or wellies?
Other than these, I always carry a blanket, map, heavy duty torch; and a phone!!!
