Had it 3 weeks now and starting is still a lottery!

Thanks for coming back to let us know how you got on.

Obviously not good then if they haven't fixed the fault.

Typical though, when mine was playing up it never done it when I took it to the garage, but as soon as you get home it fecking played up !

Funny enough since I last posted on this thread the fault seems to have cleared itself, might be a few things that might have helped fix it.

Since I had problems with it I have fitted a new battery, new fob battery's and cases, gearbox oil change and service...

Who knows ??? Lol

Thanks Datatek and Hippo for support. Its still with garage and they have tried several dyagnostic systems without success. Datatech the L322 will start sometimes for while then other times will not start at all no matter how many tries then following day might start a few times then later in the day will not for an hour or two. You say failed ignition switch would this be the case in my situation as it will start sometimes. When it will not start there is a very very subdued beeping sound. Thanks again.

A failing ignition switch can cause all sorts of funnies as the worn contacts will sometimes pass full current/voltage and other times little or none. There have been threads about it on here. I don't have personal experience of it on an L322 but both my tractor and digger have had similar problems that came down to the ignition switch and it seems to be a known problem on the L322.:(

Hi all - am now told it is the starter motor - or so the diagnostic tests said - so have ordered replacement and the relay from Paddocks - it was bench tested and was 'rough'. Fingers crossed - unfortunately I'm a bit of a pessimist, but a useful trait for a Landrover owner!.

I thought I mentioned earlier on this thread about starter motor and solenoid?
Not being funny but if its taken a month nearly to figure out that it's the starter motor then I wold be asking serious questions!
It's called looking at the basics!

Thats B - yes I remember you did - lets hope thats it - the 'garage' is usually excellent if a bit excentric and I do have to be a bit patient - hope to pick it up next Tuesday - that will be exactly 4 weeks - think of the depreciation of a L322 for that period, I try not to - lucky we have a Tdci in almost full working order in the meantime otherwise we would have to get out the Landrover bikes!.

5 weeks now or is it 6 and the starter motor replacement fitted, but apparently this has thrown up other issues!. Getting really worried. Think I may have to take it to Stratstones and gulp hard. Still could be worse the other Landrover could have broken down also.

Sounds like that garage is inhabited by a typical bunch of dumb spanner monkeys. Stratstone will probably be no better.

I have that same horrible feeling, but it would be balanced by at least having the vehicle back. Even thinking may get rid, but was hoping could wait until D day in 2015 and persuade the wife to swop - am hinting hard already.

Its my fault really, just didnt want to take it to Stratstones.

How can it be your fault? If a garage accepts work then they are by nature of accepting the work implying they can handle the complexity of the job - unless they state upfront that they don't understand the car!

You're the customer - it's up to them to know what they're doing!
