hi my name is heath and im new to this , my l322 o4 has stopped charging again this time the battery light didnt come on ,ive put a new battery on it and just had the altenator fixed but when i put it back in the battery light would flick on every now and then , just went out to tune the radio in and put the heated seats on while i did it and the battery went flat while the car was running but no warning light .
is ther a fuse or relay i can check before i take the alternator back out in the morning,
 
right no help there then .
whiped the alternator this morning and took to the repair shop who said ive blown both rectifyers ,which was new to me because i thought i only had one . they told me it was a 200 amp altinator when i thought it was a 150 .i asked him why it was blowing and he told me it was a bad earth ? or live ? not the case when we checked it just a cranky repair man ,
anyway its all done and very easy to do but a stupidly high priced new item .luckaly it only cost me £140 to repair .
any body know a better or cheeper way to sort this problem or even why they blow ? its probably a good idea to pick up a spare , you can change them in a little over an hour
 
would help if i new i had to post it in the range rover section ?????

ive been here less then 6 hours and ive managed to post in the right place.....

lets be fair, if you cant navigate a simple forum should you really be working on a car?

why have i shot myself in the foot ????? if i need to be someware else then how did i get here ??? it says introduce yourself ,so thats what i did . i doesnt say rang rover click hear and land rover click there ???
a friendly bunch of people would explain and help a new person .

well lets see what i bring to the table !!!!!! 26 years as a fully trained mechanic,panel beater ,sprayer , and airbrush artist , having access to loads of spare parts ,4wheel alignment and full diognistics
restored and built more cars than youve been turned down by women .
and currently working for well known f1 teem ,
yep you could say i shot myself in the foot hee hee what the f**k have i been doing without your help ,

26 years huh? And yu didn't test the alternator before replacing the battery? Another one of your professional mekaniks, hey James? :rolleyes:

I am confused......
You "new what the problem was", yet you replaced the battery for an alternator fault. You got it refurbed rather than replace the diode pack yourself? You thought there was only one, not two, you are a trained mechanic but have no diagnostic program's. you don't know if there is a fuse and don't have Rave.

You'll have to excuse Daft aka Madhatman.. He doen't reaaly understand how to talk to us men of the world,:rolleyes: He tries to be all polite and helpful. When he shud have just told you to go and fook ya self..

C*nts like yu really do need fooking Take the fooking heap of ****e to ya F1 team mates and plug it into their fancy pants machines FFS and shut the fooking door on ya way out..

haa right i dont know of any ob2 software that tells you your rectifyer pack has gone ? that impossible . they do not sell this service kit to anyone , ive never known anybody to keep a service kit or rectifyer pack in stock , some times you can get by if a component shop like maplins is open and and they have the parts in but not likely and nobody keeps anything for 200amp water cooled unit hence coming to a website like this ,obviasly you guys havnt got a clue or you would have helped , as it was i had it fixed by 12 the next day , no probs , hey give me a shout when yours go , ill help you out ,

Really? Wow! And I ain't even got a Rangie?

Rectifiers - eBay. Loads of them. Why not use an alternator diagnostics, like the simple Bosch one?

Helpheath. May I suggest yu chill. Stop posting and start reading? Maybe even :search:.
