Hi all
This had to happen in the winter,
heaters are only blowing cold front and back, checked the switch on the centre vent that puts it from hot to cold, checked the cable from this that runs to the heater box there all ok

pipes going into the heater box through the bulkhead are both warm coolant is fine and car is running at normal temperature.
could this be anything to do with the thing on the inner wing(no ides what its called) that the water pipes run through

Cheers

Ross

The only time i have had this problem is when i replaced my water pump and i needed to bleed more air out of the system.
have you tried putting the heater on auto to see if anything happens?
I have a slight recollection of blend motor causing a problem but not sure if that gave the symptoms you have

I have bled it no air in the system, I have now also replaced the heater valves on the inner wing still no heat tried bleeding again, no air in system I have now ordered the valve that sits on the bulkhead to try that

is there a procedure to bleeding???

I can only find the procedure for the v8 petrol and the i did what it says in the attached but i also turn on all the heaters and left the engine running keeping an eye on the temp and coolant level as when the stat opens i guess it will use more coolant and after around half an hour i finally got some heat from my heaters.
i kept checking the coolant level was correct when i first started it being careful not to open when the engine was fully up to temperature but i did loosen the bleed screw a couple of times to release any air.
If you can find a copy of Rave manual with the TD6 bleed procedure it would be helpful

yes that's the procedure I followed but only did it for 10 mins as no air was coming out only a steady flow of water, might give it another try tomorrow

I think you need to allow it to get hot enough for the stat to open which if it's a diesel then that can be some time. From memory i left the bleed screw in place after the initial procedure and also with the cap on i left the engine running and kept an eye on the temperature gauge, in case the stat opened and the water level dropped as i didnt want to overheat it, with the heaters on so i could tell when the system was bled. I may be wrong but when the stat opens water will fill any air pockets in the system and then that air will need bleeding out and the water topping up.
The procedure in rave seems a little too simple to me. i think i had to leave my petrol running for around half an hour and a diesel will take longer to warm up especially in this weather. i did make up a tube that connected from the bleed screw hole and fed straight back into the filler neck but for some reason when i connected it the water stopped coming out, maybe because of the height of the outlet.
Keep us posted, good luck :)
