Can some one help, ive just had my brake indicator light come on about 10miles ago, i changed the pads straight away and thought that the indicator light on the dash would extinguish as its now not being earthed or sustined any damage.. Like most cars .. but no not on a RR !! any ideas ? I heard that once the light has been activated its got to be reset by a LR dealer and the sensor cable changed ?? Anyone have any experiance of this ??

I went to local range rover garage not main dealer they swiped all my faults most old faults that other garages didnt wipe, alls well cost £40

Yes, you need to replace the sensor because it wears through. There’s only one sensor per axle and the front & rear sensors are different.

Once the sensor cable is replaced the warning light will go off on its own.

helpfull post !

do those sensor cables just clip onto the pads ?

and does the other end of the cable plug into somewhere under the car then ?

Thanks guys great help, i spoke with a 4x4 company close to me today and they said just to cut the sensor wire and it'll clear itself .. guess what I cut it and re crimped it and the light is still on, i also tried it with the cable not joined and still the light remained on .. looks like ill have to change the wire and see if it clears or get it cleared..

A sensor that needs replacing if the pads are worn to the point where the sensor is activated? That really is taking the ****, whats wrong with a bit of wire embedded in the pad as used on many other vehicles?

Well i cut the wire and rejoined it and the light stayed on for a day or two now its gone off .. only problem is my new Mintex pads are squealling their nuts off !! So got the shop to send me some heavy duty EBC's !! lets hope they dont follow the same route !!
