i have found a multi plug loose in my engine bay

the wires are
BLACK
Blue/black

it is at the front of the engine when u open the bonnet and go into the wiring harness where the hdc is i found the wires not attacked to anything when checking the hdc 1st gear wiring for my hdc problem which i still have

does anyone have any idea what its for as theres no senors or anything not plugged in

could be anything based on your pic..........
is it the gearbox side of the endine ?
could be the reverse swich connector
air temp sensor
some connector for a pressure converter for EGR for example

does the car run correctly ?
 
the car does run correctly sorry picture not great was taken with phone in rain lol

the black pipe is intercooler to manifold and the wire comes from the loom in the top of the gearbox but was just hanging down
 
where is the sensor for this located.. just from the top i cnt see any sensor not plugged in so a rough idea would be great please
 
Here is a couple more pictures of the plug i cnt find a home for

one of the plug and one where it fastens to a bracket above the gearbox

CAN a L Series owner please look at theres for me

ok thanks for the info and i look forward to seeing your reply tomorrow hope it wasnt me being blind but my mate couldnt see anything either lol
 
I went out and had a look . For me to find exactly where that connector goes ,I would have to remove the air box and turbo hose , maybe the battery cradle and the belly pan . Oh and get my hands oily just to find where your connector goes .

Have you already removed all the above and followed the loom from the fuel pump back to the battery ? or the other way ,from the battery ?

It could be the first gear sensor (I think thats what its called ) Its on the front of the engine ,down low ,near side and protected by a bolted on bracket .

Remove the under tray , air box and hose and get your torch out . If you've done all that and still cant find where it goes , then I might whip a few bits off and find where it goes for you .

i have had the airbox out and inlet pipe out

its not the 1st gear switch as thats wired up the plug goes into the main loom of the engine and when i look i cnt see anywhere it goes

i used torch and mirros to see in the awkward places

i have also looked from undeneath and still non the wiser

( 40 post i used to have a freelander in 2007 but sold it and now i got another a couple of week ago)
 
Can you go out and have a look ? In behind the starter motor or solenoid there should be 2 connectors close together . I think its one of them 2 .

Sorry about getting ****y but I thought I might just be able to pop the bonnet and see exactly where it might go .
 
all the help i get is greatly received ive not had the car long and just noticed little bits all the time. nice car to drive tho but my last one was a td4 which i liked more but i think its just coz this one had little niggles but for the price i paid i shouldnt moan. lol

i will go out now and have a little look again and check where you said
 
If you look at your own photo , on the right half way up you will notice a black wire hose over one red wire .I think the hose (for want of a better description) should follow the other . I hope you understand what I mean .

I had to edit out the photo .It was way too big .

hello i understand where yyou mean when i put my hand down there i can feel the other wire but i have also found a 3 pin multi plug that is there and that is not connected to anything either
