Nothing wrong with Goodyear NCT5 tyres. Ok if you intend to go off road then not the ideal choice but they are an excellent road tyre.

You'll prob be quoted for M + S tyres (mud and snow) - such as goodyear wrangler. Ask yourself how much time you spend off road in mud or driving in snow.....

you can get reinforced side walls - more common on vans - for all that rough treatment climbing kerbs outside schools.

I've got 'road' tyres on my td4 on the rear (always new tyres to rear!!!) and goodyear wranglers on front - the goodyears are much noisier than road biased tyres

Goodyear Eagle NCT5
215/65H16

Reduced fuel consumption/Increased mileage

Significant reduction in CO2 emissions
Maximum savings of energy and resources in production
Improved mileage & minimised noise levels
Resistance to aquaplaning
H rated - 130 MPH

I can see nothing that says that these tyres are unsuitable for a Freelander. I would ask for a written statement from Bells, as to why they think they are unsuitable and ask Goodyear if they are OK for your motor. It sounds like Bells are trying it on - trying to get a sale for 4 tyres.

It will be interesting to hear what Kwik-fit have to say to your letter.

Evening Stewy, sad to say it seems you've been mucked about by two tyre centres. I fitted four Michelin's to my FL1 last year for £350 all in. Not sure what they fitted to yours but they'd better last the distance. I suspect the 'Lady by herself' alarm went off when you're good lady rolled in that day. No offence to your other half as this happened to my missis and various friends report the same. Lady rools in for something and gets totally ripped off. "Poor love won't know" kind of thing. Makes the blood boil. My missis took our other car for its MOT. She phoned me cuz it had failed due to to much water in the brake fluid. Since when has that been an MOT failure as long as the brakes work. Got the garage on the phone and put a stop to that. Were gonna charge us fifty sheets for the privalege.

Advice is. Gold plated tyres to the front axle, then you take the car in for the back tyres to be replaced. You must do it this way or you'll stress your transfer box and that's a cool grand to fix.
