Hi!
This is my first time here and I really could use some help with finding out the problem to my 300tdi engine. It started making a knocking sound, at first it was only when starting the engine and when driving it was gone (or we were not able to hear it anymore). then after three days in a couple of hours the noise got much louder.
We checked the valve caps, they were worn out and put on new ones, the rocker arms showed some damage as well so we renewed these as well and we found some bent push rods. However this could have been bent by a local Georgian mechanic while he was setting the clearance of the valve caps. The push rods were renewed as well, but the sound is still exactly the same.
We tried to locate the sound it seems to come from the second silinder. Is it true that this would eliminate the option of it being the vacuum pomp or the timing belt since the sound is coming from one cilinder?
The second cilinder also seems to have some oil leakage. All the dieselinjectors have been checked and they were all fine. We also partially disconnected/loostening the dieselinjectors (I am not sure how to describe this in english) when the engine was running. Doing this with injector 1,3 and 4 the sound of the engine clearly changed and with injector 2 nothing changed.
This is a link to a video I uploaded from the knocking sound:
Is there anyone who has any idea of what is causing this sound/cilinder two not working??
Thanks in advance, hoping for the best!
