Then off to play in the woods.

Hi Killa, liking the work so far.. Those limit straps, where are they from c*****?
I'm after sorting some for dsico.
Also what part of Hemel you from, I grew up in Bovi.
What woods are they?

Cheers Mark

Hi Mark

Yes, I bought them from Craddies. These were fitted as standard on series motors I believe. I don't think they were ever fitted on coilers.

Funnily enough we have just broker a Disco 200 recently.

I live down Belswains, did you ever go to Cubs in Bovi ?

Tried the 265/75r16s on my 8 spokes at the weekend, hmm not good, Definatly too large for the 80". I think I would mash the wheel arches while off roading

The rims themsevles are too wide without the tyres. plus I never realised how they would affect the speedo!

Looks like a Disco steel rim will fit the S11 axles better. I will look around for a few more.

Not a fan of wide tyres myself horses for courses and all that but much prefer a tall skinny tyre than a wide low tyres. I have 750's on my 80 I'm not sure how I'll get on as I have some ofset rims for the front austin champ wheels around the 102mm mark just legal for ALRC hoping they will fit but looks like I'm gonna be ****ing in the wind

Can't beat diamonds. Insa turbo's are good, probably as good really but usually come in silly wide sizes. I think Diamonds come in 33 inch on the limit for ALRC. Not sure of other tyres maybe silverstone extremes might be on the limit.

On the topic of large tyres what's the best way to change the speedo. Van you change the speedo drive gears or put a lot speedo in the daah

I believe the series had different speedo's whereas coil sprung models have different coloured speedo gears which are a diddle to change.

On the speedo what's the 4 digit number this should be rev of the cable per mile if your only going to 7.50 tyres then I'd be surprised if it under read I think it would be pretty much spot on for actual speed.

Correct that takes me back, I used to know that doh! Blimey I must be suffering from ali rot too

Good thing is there is one of those happy sad speed signs near me that tells you your approximate speed. Will try it on that

Cheers Stu,

Will see what I get on Saturday, I think most of the tyres will already be on LWB rims. then I may get Pete to pop one onto that Disco rim to see what they fit like.

That said I am not sure what I will be getting on the Disco when my brother hands it over, I think I will soon have a wheel/tyre mountain like yours :)

OK next wee task.

I thought that as I was going to put 750r16 on I would chang the speedo to a 1504. Now my motor has no dash illumination, but I buy 5 meter strips of soft white LEDs to cut down and illuminate buildings on my model railways.

So rather than a feeble 12v bulb behind the metal speedo bezel, lets run a ring around the rim and see what its like.

Given that the strips run at 12v I also added an extra 1K resistor to handle the 14.4 voltage of a healthy charging system.
