Hi Guys, picking brains time again, just discovered that the wife has lost my spare key to the RR, so I know that I ca get a replacement from Looker or similar dealer, but my question is does any body know if I can buy an door lock plus ignition barrel with 2 keys, had a look on Flee bay but all had just 1 key. As I have been quoted around £250 for a replacement key OUCH.

In short No.

The fobs have a unique code in the becm, so the mechanisms would work but no fob recognition would probably mean no starting.
You wouldn’t be able to lock/unlock with fobs.

Been trying for weeks to get though to either Lookers or Chipperfield Land rovers and first call got though to Lookers and a new No 2 key is £189 plus VAT, but you have to take in the V5 (logbook) driving licence, utility bill and your passport. So it looks like a trip down there branch on the A40 Park Royal. Instead of trying to get everything re-programmed and then possibly have more trouble.

I know it’s expensive but if you lose your only one (which has happend once already) your L322 is worth nout, and you will have to break in/recovery causing more than £180.

Putting in new barrels, becm etc you will likely incur more problems along the way - also £180+

Choices are yours so whatever you are most comfortable with.

To be honest.

It can be done but you need expensive kit, and it’s not diy stuff.

The new key may sound expensive but at the end of the day it probably the cheapest less painful option.

@RangeRoller dt P38 me thinks not L322 but still think answers apply the same.

I understand that, but a replacement FOB is not strictly necessary as the car can be operated with just the key.

Yep, what if she loses that 1?:(

How many keys would you want;)
I know I have 2 for both of ours, and would feel rather nervous only having 1

The OP has his #1 FOB and key, what I'm suggesting is that he may not need to buy a second FOB as a spare key blade would do the job for a tenner, or half a dozen spare key blades.

I understand what you are saying. Don’t think OP has kit to do that. Buy a Nanocom £400 + new cut keys. Or £200 for a fully working fob hassle free;)
The car could still throw a wobbly and with EKA switched off it could mean more expense, could it not?
I agree anybody that owns a P38 should have decent diagnostics kit, but not all do.

Curious
