is it possible to use a key fob from my other p38 and recode it to work on your new vehicle as my only key has gone titsss up and I have a spare from a donor

Nope. You would need to swap out the BECM and locksets as far as I know. (Or get ripped off by the stealers!!)

main dealers are the only people that can code to the car unless you have the software and you can only do the key that doesn't correlate with the one already coded.

you can have key 1, key 2 (they do the seat and mirror adjustment to stored settings, key 3 and key 4.

you need to know which key you have as you cant have 2 key 1's, 2's, 3's or 4's

I think the refurb is fine, but beware the key cutting. My fob was repaired fine but the new blade didn't work so I had to refit old blade back on fob. Luckily he returns the original blade

Compare it to the original. You can probably see where a tad more material needs filing out and get it working.

I cut these as a Scania HU71P which is the correct profile for the P38 locks. Unfortunately the replacement blades that come with the currently available fob cases have more material close to the bow. This fouls on a thick wafer in the lock which is used to retain the blade when inserted and turned.

I do remove this material in all the blades I cut but due to the worn nature of some locks and as Grrrrr rightly pointed out, a slight fettle is sometimes required.
