Hi guys back again sorry.I took my fl2 in for the cam belt and water pump doing this morning so instead of useing the key on my keyring thats got other keys i need on it i used my spare key.I putthe key in and the car started fine drove to the garage put it in park put my foot on the brake stopped the engine. The problem was then i could not get the key to pop out and the mechanic as never come across this so he said leave it and i will have a look at it when i start on it .So i left it a while then went back and the key popped out.Why is it hit and miss anyone any ideas ???.

Can happen, think it retains key if it thinks the steering hasn't locked, I seem to remember there is a fix, ( probably a software update) or steering lock? @td4van probably knows

Could it just be that the battery is flat in the fob.I have been reading the owners manual today and it does say that if you have 2 fobs you should use them both not just put one away and use the other as they need charging up regularly ???

The charging is done while the engine is running and the battery is only used for operating the central locking

Is the key swollen at all as the rubber can expand and then it gets stuck?

What's the status of the green light around the key dock?

The key looks in better shape than the one i,m useing to be honest and the green light is on ok.I,m afraid to try the fob again for fear i can,t get it out.is there a way to manually get them out if stuck ??.Thanks

No way of manual release to my knowledge

So the one regular key works fine in the slot and is powered in on a motor and when you've stopped the engine you push the key and it motors out the slot fine but the spare key doesn't?

Is that right?

bassically yes it doesn,t come straight out likethe one i use does. The last time i tried it was when i took it to the garage for timing belt doing i pulled up stopped the car pushed the fob and nothing. The mechanic fiddled with it he couldn,t get it out "said he had never come across the problem before" so we left it in there .i went back to the motor 30 minutes later and it was popped out ??.I,m thinking of sending it away for new covers and full refurb what do you think ???.Thanks for the replys.
