Is it possible to use kero as a diesel subsitute as they are both oil fuels?

You know I asked someone this on Saturday. Didnt get an answer though. I have a barrel in my garage and thought about pooring into me tank to see what happens.
I have an Ex-MOD LR90 and I was told by someone (cant remember who) That the MOD LR have the timing set differently to allow them to run on a wider range of fuel. If this is true then you would think that Kero would be a prime substitute in the forces.
Anyone know??

yup yer can, int sure on the lub qualities of it for some of the pumps though.

add 1 litre of cheap engine oil for each 25 litres of kero.

NATO blend - 25 parts Kero to one part EP90 or any other stuff lying around that's fairly viscous.

Not that I would ever use Kero as I am sure it is illegal without paying the correct fuel duty....... but.....
does anyone know how much you can buy Kero for in bulk??
Has anyone used it themselves?? (obviously you would have been in a country where it was legal at the time!)
Kero is the same stuff used for oil fired CH systems so give your local fuel oil supplier a ring for a quote - you might have to buy a CH fuel storage tanks worth ie about 2K litres
last lot that i bought was 52ppl + vat an that was in a 205ltr drum, use hydrolic oil as the oil additive, or vegie oil can be used as the lube side. But if you are stopped by customs an excise they will confiscate your motor and crush it, there is no appeal for for using kero as a fuel (stepdad is in customs an excise and looking at there internal newsletter they have crushed 156 vehicles in the NE alone)

the british antartic survey use kerosine/JET A1 fuel as it has lower freezing point - i dont know wat lube additive the use though..
They rekon that theres about a 10% power loss by using kerosine in diesel engines but they got no chioice and the gear they use is pretty big so not really a problem
