So I've finally taken the plunge and going to see this at the weekend and then hopefully securing her for August time when they seller is back from holiday and I am free, as weve agreed a price and the seller has turned down a couple of higher offers from traders.

Looks one of the best 90s Ive seen for under £10k - lots on ebay have all new paintwork/bells and whistles but most have been pigs, with bodged up chassis etc
Materially its in good condition, just needs some new seats inside, cubby box and some dash refinements possibly a double din etc. The interior needs a all insulating and sound deadening. with some covering around the back.

On the exterior Im going to give the paintwork a good going over and possibly looking at stripping the front bulkhead, rust curing it now and repainting - try stop the bubbling in its tracks before winter sets in, dont want any wet feet!
2 Pano Windows from Masai 4x4 on the rear quarters - still undecided on rear seats in the back - just checking Ive seen the car will insured as a van but if I stick rear windows in and seats it will then need to be changed to domestic car insurance?

Wheels - I think I'll be looking at sawtooth alloys and keeping the tyres.

Cant wait to get started!!

Anybody installed dodo matting and then new carpets?
Is it worth it?
Also looking at the exmoor seat retrims - lots of good reviews on youtube etc - anybody taken the plunge on here?

So Im picking up the 90 from Sussex on the 7th August - 4 and a half hour drive back - well probably 6 hours as I'll be stopping a few times.
I have AA roadside assistance just checking that defenders fall under AA assistance just in case anything happens on the way back - I know they are sometimes considered a commercial van if they dont have seats or windows in the rear would this cause any conflict with my AA cover if I need it?

I picked her up yesterday.
A 430am start, first train to kings cross (1st class £40!!) then a tube and another hour train later I was in Sussex to pick the old lady . 1998 300 TDI County still with original colour maroon red colour, bulkheads and chassis are in great condition, small rust coming through near the front vents on the bulk head which I’ll sort before winter and some other refinements around the body work off scratches etc.
She drove lovely back for the 260 mile journey back home, gearbox, brakes and engine temp all good, including an hour tail back on the M25!!
Interior she needs some love, new seat trims, refinements to the dash - my clock isn’t working also and didn’t realise how bad the lights on the dash are, will be upgrading the bulbs. Also no leaks! Even on the sunroof with absolute torrential rain yesterday, nice dry feet .

One slight issue I found this morning was a very small leak spot under the middle of the car possibly transfer box? Just a small spot not sure if it’s oil yet or just some water and grime as it looked to be drying off this morning so will check later.
