Awesome, I definitely prefer the black grill and surrounds. Just ordered a set for about 30 quid, which is pretty cheap. Did consider spraying mine up, but the paint alone would have cost 10 quid so spending 20 quid and saving myself the bother was a no brainer. I think they are the later td5 with three little vent/ louvre type things between the side light and indicator light which is annoying as I'd have liked to have kept it looking original as poss, but I'm sure nobody will notice.

I did get round to putting some army issue sleeping mat on both front footwell and bulkhead areas, and it seems to have certainly quietened it down a bit, especially on tickover and pulling off where the engine is very quiet. Havn't taken her up speed yet so can't comment on that but so far so good.

Oh and I was right about sods law meaning something would go wrong with my landy today! This morning I got in and my window would wind up until it had a half inch gap and then stop. This was fixed by manually pulling the front of the window up a tiny bit by hand, and then it wound itself up all the way. Looks to me like the regulators had it/ on it's way out, so I will investigate that next weekend.
