bloody hell just when I think im making a descision you come up and mention another one that looks bloody good. This GAP one is totally portable as you say, the vin locked thing im not too bothered about as it just for me not looking to do other cars, also it looks like the firmware versions are regular and actively progressing.Having said that the Hawkeye looks like a decent piece of kit, I wonder if theres any chance of Hawkeye updating their software to bring more useability in the future?
Cheers for that info Saint

Oh and BTW I just realised your rfom surrey Saint, thats where I went for the car (Woking)

Woking is only 6/7 miles from me....I'm Closer to Guildford!!

So sounds like we have trod some of the same dirt!!

That is one heck of a way to come for a Car!!!

Also - what you doing with the Lamp Guards (Hippo is gonna hate me but I quite Like them!)

Ive travelled further mate, thats one thing that never bothered me before, I bought an audi A4 from Penzance!

As for the Lamp guards dunno mate must be something in the water down your neck of the woods as the other southerner loved em too!
They are definately coming off, got anything worth a trade?

He might trade you his all comms ?? Lol

I own an L322 - the All Comms is here to stay I'm affraid....

Nowt else to trade with - wanna busted fuel pump? - had one of those last week...!!

No bother - No Cash - Had to replace fuel pump last week!!

And if I spend anymore on it this month she'll cut me off, quite literally!! :D:D

So I thinik if its only gonna cost around £20 to get an all comms into the country then I might aswell go ahead and order that, it seems like the best other than the MSV and thats only because the MSV software is more advanced, from what I can work out the allcomms guy looks to be a small outfit with not too many working on software whereas the MSV guys seem to have dedicated software team, hence the steep price I suppose. At least there is potential for better software with the allcomm. Hell I may even write my own!!

Storey Wilson is a one man band with a full time job and a family to consider as well as RSW Solutions. The software was supposed to be open source to allow others to enhance/expand it:D

I bought the All Comms as it was the cheaper of the lot, had great functionality, and I didn't want to own such a complex car without having some form of code reader.

But for me it is just a stop gap until I save up for a more complete tool, and also if the Nanocom gets ported to the L322.

I am intrigued by the IIDTool, as I have heard it can change settings in the BCM - but I can wait for now!!

Aye thats what im currently having to do and its just not on!!
Cheers Planny for that info, what is it exactly thats different on the dash console? To be honest im not that bothered either way.

Soz for late reply
The ignition was moved from the console to the dash at the side of steering wheel, also the handbrake was changed to electronic, & 2 cup holderswereadded to centre console. The centre console layout is totally different on the facelift
As for a later type grille, the headlamps would need changing along with the bumper, which without a modification, will not fit to the wings as the flange inside the front edge is different & the bumper guide brackets

Well that sounds perfect, what exatly do you mean by was supposed to be open source? is it not? I would love to see if there is a source code for it that I could have a mess with.

Never checked, when I realised that it was not going to cater for the P38 I sort of lost interest. Contact Storey Wilson at RSW solutions.

When the device was being proposed, it was stated that the software would be open source and contributions were invited. Since the kit was cloned and cheap copies appeared it may be that the policy has changed.

ahah so all those warnings of cheap copies of his device are true! He warns on his website of the cheap chinese copies not being compatible with his software.

the problem is the Chinese copys do work with the software and so the software released recently has a lock that needs you to confirm you are using a genuine device

the previous software didnt have any locks so you are free to use it on any device that works with it. in this case a simple obd to usb works

Yeah I know all that but i look forward to newer software and try to support the original developer and all that, honestly id be happy to buy a copy but the more I read about this storey guy the more I want to support the chap. Anyway ive just bit the bullet and ordered directly from RSW £183 all in it was :(
Like we said itll pay for itself.

I did the same - the Legend that is Storey Wilson has dedicated his time to helping us owners out in his spare time....the very least I could do is pay him for his efforts if it helps to keep my Rangie on (and off - in the fun sense) the road...

This is why I always refer to him as 'The Legend that is Storey Wilson.....'

Can anyone tell me is it possible to update my touchscreen denso sat nav firmware to give the updated 3D perspective like the prefacelifts can?

Light guards on Range Rovers are like Onyx coffee tables to those down that way.
