Think mine is due a new battery as the couple of cold mornings we had earlier in the week it was very slow turning over

Any recommendations on ampage? biggest that goes in the space i guess :D

As long as there's a bit of life in me battery I can usually start it with the handle. Petrol series - yahay!

Mind you, I'm gonna have to get a new one for the Subaru this week. Had to jump it this morning.

Won't need any special measures... just today fitted a brand new 100Ah, 850a starting power Bosch :) Tis a nice feeling having a good battery to rely on. ;)

Sod's Law, only times I needed to jump start my own vechicles was when I didn't have me jump leades with me, so now make sure that I always carry them, and not had to jump my own vechicle since, usually end up jumping the diesel fork truck or tractor at work when some numpty on the night shift leaves the lights on,
Last winter the 2.5na got very slow to start, don't think I had to resort to jumping it, replaced battery (highest output one I could fit in) checked battery leads, connections, etc and then fitted a higher output alternator when standard one failed, awhile ago it got hard to start again so fitted new set of glow plugs, now starts o.k. even on frosty mornings. Must check the anti-freeze this weekend!

Managed to melt some jump leads last winter, and yes they were the right way round! They were really cheap ****ty Halfords ones... was quite exciting when they started to smoulder! :D

melted a set starting this.

Were you trying to start it or weld it? That's some serious electricity you're messing with there.

I've just phoned my garage 'cos they put a new battery in my wife's Impreza in January and it's now dead. If I can get it started on Monday and get it round there they'll put a new one in for me 'cos it's still under manufacturer's warranty. Small independent garages - I love 'em.

Looks like he was only jump starting summit 24v. Them batteries are 6v batteries. (They only have 3 cells).;)

Ya shouldn't melt a set of leads jump starting just cos summit is 24v.

Looks like 2 6s and 3 12s, 48v in total?

2 x 6volt 100ah in series, seriesed with a 12 volt 90ah.
parallelled with another 2 12 volts seriesed at 90ah.

one of those "can you start my wagon, its bin sat in yard for 4 months an somebodies comin to buy it this aft" questions.

also ended up with a charge an start on it from me workshop on a load of extension leads.

pain in the arse as it was in yard behind us with awkward access, an i hadnt
allowed time for it. made it more annoying when owner buggered off an left me with it.
started it then left it running. didnt even have his phone number.....

think it was a daf 17 tonner, but didnt pay too much attention.
remember it comin in cos the bloke that brought it couldnt reverse it and it were into a yard it wouldnt really fit into. it sat there for ages and when yard owner gave yard up, it had to go. (an it were all left to last minute)

all i remember was takin a couple of 12 volt batteries from me workshop and lugging them down the side of it, wouldnt play so brought some more.
it had a bunch of wires to twist together in the cab, and i brought the van round to take all the batteries back.

Some of the older dafs were allergic to cold weather. A lit bit of rag in the air-intake soon sorted that out.;)
