but what i realy want to know is will new clock show correct speed eg when it says im doing 30mph will that be correct to cars speed or will i have to buy a converter as well ??? many thanks Mike .

Im not sure if you need to change a setting on the becm but I do know the becm will syn the mileage with the dash automatically with the display showing the highest mileage recorded on either the becm or the instruments

I think only the dial is different, my UK ones have MPH on the outer ring anf KPH on an inner ring which would suggest there is no calibration difference. The mileage will update to the higher figure eventually, you may get an error message until it does.

No need for a convertor the kph & mph Ipacks recieve the same signal from the ABS via the becm. There is a market setting in the becm for Japan but this does nothing for the odometer. You will get the odometer error message when you fit the pack and this can be cleared normally at a dealer (I don't know whether other none LR tools can do odometer updates). The slight problem that you will have is I believe that when you do the odometer update, the Ipack will read 125k miles. If you use a Nanocom, then don't be tempted to change the market to UK as this will enable the passive immobilzation & EKA code system and thats a major headache when it goes wrong.

Anyone near leeds got a nanocom or similar?
Im after the alarm and imobliser ect. deactivating before they cause any problems. I also want the fogs activating
If anyone can there'll be some beer vouches in it for you

just a thought mate but i think the fogs will be enabled already mine are and there not fitted but when i checked the becm settings they were enabled so could be a plug and play setting or a fuse needed in the fuse box :)

Thanks for all the help not sure what the passive immobilzation & EKA code system is , but is sounds like i should just leave the jap clocks in as dont want any problems with car not starting  cheers Mike .

Changing the clocks will not affect either the immobilizer or the EKA code. If you don't have the EKA code, you should contact an LR dealer to get it, or find someone with a Faultmate or Nanocom to read it from the BECM, for sure you will need it one day.

Oh and I could do with a kilometer clock:)

You can only read it on an unlocked BECM Keith. If it's locked you can't.

Sorry if I confused you, Change the Ipack to a UK one, but when you are using a Nanocom to clear the ODO error message on the Ipack, don't be tempted to try and switch the becm to a UK market setting. This will enable the the EKA system (Japanese vehicles did not use the the EKA system). Do a search on this site for immobilaztion or EKA problems and you will see that it's a real pain in the a.... when it goes wrong.

ok thanks i think i will leave well alone for now and sort out another problem i have ,,, bad oil leak from top backend of engine its not cam covers so i think it might be vally gaskit or hoses .
Is this a hard job to do ? and has anyone tried it on here ? many thanks Mike .
