But that is not the fault of the MOT itself,is it,it is the fault of the tester and the garage he works for, possibly a big wedge of money changed hands as well.

"that Pajero needs thousands of pounds spent on it to pass the test"

"Here's £200 go and take the wife out tonight and come back with an MOT certificate...." HAHA when i told folk about this Pajero last year that's exactly what everyone was thinking! and its probably true!

I'm sure you'll all have seen this but the Wikipedia entry on US vehicle safety inspections makes interesting reading. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_inspection_in_the_United_States Looks like only a minority of states require periodic safety inspections these days. Emissions tests are more commonly required in areas which are built up and/or have air quality problems. But very light touch compared to the UK.,

I know exactly how it feels to be in that situation,as it happened to me,but due to circumstances,I could do nothing about it.

I was lucky enough to pick it up as soon as i got home and was able to deal with it in the first few days of picking it up and get my money back, if i had to go away after picking it up i would have been shafted!! i think i still have the list at home, burst fuel tank, missing wheel nuts, brake callipers not attached, shockers broken off axles, brakes leaking, chassis corroded, brake pipes corroded, fuel pipes corroded, scary amount of bushes worn/non existent, hubs away to fall off, bald tyres......the list goes on, the guy inspecting it stopped only 3/4 of the way through saying "I've seen enough, no point in continuing"

The garage delivered mine, but they knew i had med probs and could not inspect it,so it was parked up on my driveway, when the time came to get it serviced,oh my god,the chassis was absolutely knackered, fortunately, james martin, off here, fitted a re con chassis for me,plus did lots more work to it,when i got it back,it was like new, unfortunately, because of my probs,i had to sell it.

That doesn't sound great at all! Its a shame to think this happens probably all the time to people and they get away with it

No. never been sick. Only time to a doctor was for stitches. Until last Christmas for a blood infection, was in for 4 days with a IV. Now once a year for BP pills check
OK,but most bods go for an annual check up,that is just the same for a car,it tells you if it is roadworthy, and gives you some idea if anything needs looking at.

That is what a garage does when they service cars 4,5,6 times a year in the US. With more and more people going to lease cars dealers are busy doing routine services and checks, because people are fooking picky when someone else is footing the bill
