Perched on the naughty step
Well with the volvo getting binned and the discovery being rather extortionate on insurance the hunt was on for a new daily driver!

Was going to get a 90 but a lwb is far more practical for us.........then this cropped up on ebay about 50 miles from me.

Its a 109 ex military from 1975, released in 1983. The tubs been cut and extended by the army to be able to carry a standard military 1 tonne pallet!

Anyway other than the body mods its fitted with a low mileage 200tdi (65k) with the full intercooler setup, brand new clutch, new Sam's trim seats, inertia reel harnesses, mint chassis, bulkhead and a nice long mot :) plus it goes tax exempt next year!
On the to do list is sort the overheating issue (goes to 3/4 on the dial)........it only does it when going up/downhill or round corners quickly and at the same time the volt gauge turns itself off so its looking like a bad earth to me or possibly a sender issue on the temp side of things

Anyway pics :D

The bulkheads more solid than yours and the engines brilliant ;) only issue was the rear wheel drive and a wet road.......I gave it some gas coming out of a corner and it properly stepped out  Never thought I'd drift a 109!

Are you going to be taking it back to series front?

And what are yo planning on doing to it? Keeping it series or going like your old frankenseries 88"?

Yeah........had I known I was getting another series I wouldn't have sold my bonnet  in which case it'd have been my job for tomorrow to convert the front end back!

Instead tomorrows job is hunt for this bad earth and tweak the pump :D then replace the centre silencer with a straight pipe

It doesnt look that bad, with the series front on it it'd look better but its not too bad, looks vaguely a bit like a hi cap ( if you squint a it :D)

Got the military reg so I can source the history if wanted and its still got the military ID plates on the seat box side :)

The tub was made to be able to take 1 tonne military pallets, it started off as a 24V FFR soft top though with the standard 2.25 derv

I've got the email address for MOD info under freedom of info if ya want it somewhere. Takes about 2 weeks to get the full list of units it's been attached to
