Ant's write up prompted me to assess my first year costs for my P38. Bought in March last year with 104,000 miles on the clock (new engine fitted @ 60k miles). Now has 128,500 so my mileage has been heavy for the first 14 months.
Maintenance :
First Service (106,052 miles)- indie £165.00
New rad, coolant flush & replace, brake pipes & front prop UJ - £325.00

Head gasket replacement (116,512 miles) - head skim, new leads & plugs - £620.00
Head gasket replacement 2 & LPG service (119,134 miles) - £514.18
Oil, filter change (120,759) - approx £40.00
Transmission fluid change (121,846) - £123.39
New serp belt fitted (approx 122,000) - £30 (plus spare belt - Dayco)
Alternator bearings replaced - £30
Oil, filter change & change water pump (126,862) - approx £80.00
New O/S rear hub - £280.00
New rear diff (approx 128,000 miles) - £222.50
Total £2720
I had budgeted around £2k for first year maintenance but HG's took it over somewhat.
Bits :
Dog guard - £40
New side steps - £195
Janspeed SS exhaust system - £475
New front tyres - £165
New set of bass speakers for doors & rear sub £52.00
I haven't had a chance to go through my exact fuel usage but a quick scan of my accounts show approx £4500 since March last year.
So tot-up for first year £8147 without road tax & insurance.
It seems high for just over a years running but to be fair alot of the work has been done by my mechanic & much of it has been preventative maintenance rather than waiting for something to completely fail. As i get to know the Rangie better & build up my confidence i plan to tackle more jobs myself & hope the next year will be less expensive. Jobs planned for the year ahead will be :
New airbags
New shocks
..........& hopefully not a new engine.
