hi all , i've been out this morning working on my looooong list of things that need doing to my 300 tdi disco .
wiper stalk all done then came to change the temp sender , unscrewed the offending item wouldn't come out so pulled with some pliers and out it came , well most of it !!!! there is the end section left in the thermostat housing !!
tried everything i can think of to remove it but it's well in there ...
it would seem i have two options .
1.remove the housing and knock it out with a punch or dremmel it out if it's completly stuck or
2.with that same punch knoch the bit into the ousing and leave it in the system like we used to with core plugs !!!
neither of these options seem ideal as removing the housing is disturbing something thats probably best left alone + i don't have a gasket and i dont really want to knock it into the system as i'm unsure where it will come to rest ..

so , any suggestions ?

regards baz

not a good idea to knock it into the system as with these engines it does not take much to make em overheat, you should take the housing off and remove it that way you can always make a temporary gasket(emergency only)out off a cerial packet.or such like but don't rely on it for too long.

well i just went for a 6 mile walk instead with a pub 3 miles into it and came back and guess what ??? it still aint fixed ;)
going to order a gasket and do it properly :O
