Is this a new wheel bearing job?

There is a bodge you can do where you remove the large spring inside the new seal and cut the seal with a junior hacksaw to get it round the swivel ball --- do a search and your find it ... only a temp fix till you've got more time to do the job proper

I'm keen to get it done because i havent properly got hands on with the car yet, I thought it was a no no to drive it like that?

Would you say its ok to drive around without fear of doing any real damage (short term)?

I did mine yesterday, mainly because the swivel bearings had gone.

cheap to do, but lots of cursing at stuck bolts. the biggest tip I could give is have a blow lamp handy and heat anything that's even slightly stubborn

The easiest way is to remove the whole assembly from the axle.

If the bolts ain't too stubborn then its not too bad a job.

Just have to undo the calliper and steering arm.
