Hi all,
I have just purchased a new 300tdi discovery as my old one was getting abit to ropey. Now I'm not sure if it's because this one is just a darn sight better or if there is a problem.
My disco seems to heat up to almost full temp at about 2miles of driving. It supposedly had a new head gasket and skim two years ago. The other thing I have noticed is that the top hose is nice and warm and the bottom one is nice and hot as well but more so towards the top of it. (Hope that makes sense) but not a equal temperature all the way along its length nearer the rad is cooler but still warm. As for the radiator core it's self it's what I would say as cool not hot at all. Is this normal as my heater is lovely and warm and throws out plenty of heat.
Forgot to add that the expansion tank seems to be pressurising but the coolant is piping hot as to be expected. After doing 60 mile in her yesterday I went out and checked on the coolant today and the expansion tank was still holding pressure. It doesn't appear to be using any coolant either. I have completed a 150 mile trip no probs today so maybe I'm just over reacting.
Look forward to hearing your opinions.
Many thanks
Kyle
