Just been playing round with the motor a '88 3.5 auto and had the diff lock engaged just to see the difference when in a field. Now i've shifted the lever back to disengage the diff but my light is still on, is there a way to test if the diff is still really locked or not?

cheers

You have windup, had it the other day after changing the wheels infact, I just jacked the front up and the front wheel will spun into its respective position.

Or you can try driving backwards until the light dissappears. Its being held into difflock by pressure at the moment, don't drive to far on it like this, can cause damage.

Managed to fully disengage it, thanks for the advice, just ran up and down the drive whilst shifting the ratio stick about, sure enough, clunk bang click its all fine. I proably only did 6 miles with it engaged and luckily the route home was all town on a friday afternoon so as you can imagine I probably topped out at oooh 13 or 14 mph!!

thanks again.
