Is it worth a punt?! - 2000 V6 with Cyclinder head gasket fail

Hi,

I'm an escapee from the defender forum! A pal of mine has a 2.5 v6 X reg (2000) Freelander which has blown a head gasket. 64k on the clock, two owners and him. It hasn't moved for over a year now, and he's looking to scrap it. Is it worth buying off him for £300 and trying to put it back on the road?

Yes, it's worth buying at that price to either sell on for a profit or break for spares.

Ok! More interested now! Can anyone tell me how complex the head is to do, I can do one in the 300 tdi defender, but you mostly use hammers to do that!

the timing tolls cost a lot but if you are carefull you could manage with out just think of it as doing 2, 3 cylinder job
